This is a modified version of the game that may be played by as many as four people at the same time. Characters such as Olimar, Louis, the President, and Olimar’s wife can all be controlled by the player.
In the first Pikmin game, the protagonist, Captain Olimar, successfully returns home after evacuating a perilous planet, but upon arrival, he learns that the company he worked for, Hocotate Freight, has gone out of business. Olimar and his assistant Louie have decided that the only way to preserve the firm is to travel back to the world where the Pikmin reside, which is a planet that is quite similar to Earth. Their objective is to find and bring back as many priceless relics as they possibly can so that Hocotate Freight may be saved from financial ruin by the proceeds of their sale.
The gameplay is quite similar to the game that came before it. In spite of the fact that you have control of Olimar or Louie, you are not able to achieve too much on your own. Pikmin are plant-like creatures that are native to this planet and may be controlled by the player to provide assistance. The Pikmin are capable of carrying out a wide range of missions, including removing barriers, fighting enemies, and bringing prizes back to your ship. There are a number of distinct subspecies of Pikmin, each of which possesses a distinct set of skills and qualities (red Pikmin are immune to fire, blue Pikmin can swim, yellow Pikmin can be thrown far, purple Pikmin are stronger, and white Pikmin are fast and poisonous to foes if eaten by these). You have the ability to command up to one hundred Pikmin at once, and in order to collect riches and make it through the various dangerous animals as well as obstacles, you will need to take use of the special skills that are associated with each species of Pikmin.
Alongside the single-player story mode, the game also features a mode for two players to compete against one another. One player will take charge of the red Pikmin while the other will operate the blue ones in this game mode. The objective of the game is to either be the first person to gather four marbles or to do it by any means necessary, including taking them from your rival.
