While not following the narrative of its console counterpart, the DS version of Justice League Heroes offers a similar idea: you play as a member of the eponymous superhero team and go to several places where hordes of villains run rampant. The game is played with a map on top and a top-down perspective of the area on the lower screen. The map shows the location of your next checkpoint, the positions of your foes, and the state of your characters. In addition to the action, the lower screen has several function icons that may be engaged using the stylus. There are a dozen tasks divided into forty portions. Before each, you must choose two heroes from the Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and Flash lineups. Each character possesses ordinary melee attacks, powerful melee attacks, a ranged attack, and a special super-power move. They must employ these powers to battle several foes and progress to the next checkpoint while fulfilling tasks like switch-flipping and item gathering. You may switch between your two heroes at any moment by touching an icon on the screen. Another symbol allows you to summon an AI-controlled hero for short-term assistance. The six are Martian Manhunter, Zatanna, Green Lantern, Aquaman, Green Arrow, and Huntress. Based on their abilities, each of them has a distinct skill. In addition to the main game, there are two minigames, and inserting Justice League Heroes: The Flash into the GBA slot will unlock a third.
