Master of the Monster Lair

Master of the Monster Lair is a dungeon-crawling RPG with a unique twist: instead of finding dungeons and monsters to clear them, the player creates the dungeon (or a monster lair in this case) in order to attract the monster and trap it to destroy it. The player’s Monster Lair may be customized in 23 different ways. The narrative is set in South Arc, a tiny hamlet where the neighboring woodlands are home to monsters that often attack the town and terrorize the residents. The player assumes control of Owen, an orphan looking for his first job, when he comes upon a magical talking shovel. After discovering his fate, he chooses to excavate a lair and eradicate the monster infestation. The game’s perspective employs DS dual-screen technology, with the top screen displaying the environment and the lower screen displaying maps and item menus. The gameplay is normal turn-based RPG warfare, with choices like striking and casting spells available from a menu and the opportunity to turn and flee the battle.
