It is an action role-playing game in the same universe as the Pokémon Ranger movie. You take on the role of a Pokémon Ranger. In contrast to a Pokémon Trainer, a Ranger wanders the fields, engaging in battles to protect the natural world from evildoers with the help of Pokémon. Its release was before that of Diamond and Pearl, and all three games are connected in some top-secret way for added content.
