In the strange community of St. Mystere, residents communicate in riddles, lock their doors with sliding puzzles, and conceal their secrets with brainteasers. When a wealthy nobleman dies, his testament discloses an enigmatic treasure hidden within the community. Professor Layton must now solve St. Mystere’s riddles and puzzles, discover the secret riches, and break the case. His testament disclosed a buried treasure near St. Mystere when the rich Baron Augustus Reinhold died. To find the treasure, the baron’s family seeks the assistance of renowned puzzle expert Professor Layton and his apprentice, Luke. When the couple arrives, their hunt for the riches is cut short by the unexplained death of another Reinhold family member. To discover the truth, Professor Layton and Luke must now solve two mysteries while navigating the village’s various puzzles, riddles, and brainteasers.
• As Professor Layton, players must solve over 130 riddles to uncover the village’s mysteries. Many challenges are new for the North American version, ranging from mazes and riddles to logic and sliding puzzles. Touch-screen controls make it easy for players of all ability levels to work through problems, and new puzzles are available weekly for download via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.
• Unlike previous puzzle-based games, Professor Layton is the first to provide a great plot, cast of characters, and style in addition to the gameplay. Fully narrated animation scenes bring the story to life. At the same time, the amusing and quirky villagers and the vintage, hand-drawn imagery provide a sophisticated elegance that will appeal to gamers and non-gamers. The plot and riddles are so intricately intertwined that as you explore the environment and proceed through the adventure, you will encounter more problems.
