The 1996 PlayStation survival horror video game Resident Evil: Deadly Silence is an improved version of the original Resident Evil. Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine return as members of the game’s elite task force known as S.T.A.R.S. (Special Tactics and Rescue Service). At the beginning of the game, players choose one of the two to look into the disappearance of their fellow squad members outside of Raccoon City and end up trapped in an abandoned house filled with zombies and other monsters. Players discover secrets and solve puzzles as they explore this fascinating location. The game has several results depending on the player’s actions. Many new elements have been added to Deadly Silence, including “Knife Battle” segments in which the player must strike foes in the face using the stylus to wield the knife. The player may also use the touch screen to shake off adversaries and stab zombies.
