SpongeBob SquarePants: The Yellow Avenger

When SpongeBob wears his belt, he gains Mermaid Man’s abilities. Unfortunately, SpongeBob mistakenly inserts the filthy Bubble with the belt into a washing machine, causing him to split into numerous nasty bubbles. SpongeBob must use Mermaid Man’s talents to defeat villains such as Manray, The Sinister Slug, The Jumbo Shrimp, Atomic Flounder, and Dirty Bubble to preserve Bikini Bottom. The plot is broken into three acts, each with a new villain wreaking devastation on Bikini Bottom: Manray wants to flood Goo Lagoon; Sinister Slug has a sinister plan to stop the talent show; Jumbo Shrimp builds a machine to shrink people with the aid of Plankton; The Atomic Flounder causes havoc in Industrial Park; and The Dirty Bubble returns with the device that Jumbo Shrimp used in the third act. He intends to shower SpongeBob with even more Little Dirty Bubbles. The DS version has a 67 percent score on the review aggregation website Metacritic, indicating “Mixed or average reviews,” whereas the PSP version has a 48 percent, indicating “Generally unfavorable reviews.” IGN’s Ed Lewis appreciated the PSP version’s visuals and soundtrack but panned its “sparse and uninspired” sound effects and “confusing menus, lack of guidance, and the creepiest loading screen seen in a long, long while.” “If the levels were linear and you went through the game once, these would be a fun challenge,” Lewis wrote, “but there’s lots and lots and lots of backtracking involved, and much of it can’t be skipped.”
