Elite Squadron lets players fight on foot, in ground vehicles, or space. Players can even infiltrate big ships and battle the enemy on foot after the shields are down. Short cutscenes accompany the ground-space changes as the game loads the following location: The same is true while entering or leaving a significant ship. This is the first Battlefront game in which players may fly from ground fights to space warfare. Each player’s actions will determine the outcomes of each battle, so the death of an opponent may impact how the conflict ends. The battleground will not be one large, continuous map but rather a collection of interconnected, smaller-sized locations, each of which can affect the others. “Heroes and Villains” gameplay is featured in Elite Squadron. It features playable characters such as Luke Skywalker, Boba Fett, Darth Vader, Darth Maul, The Emperor, and Kit Fisto, as well as the Heroes and Villains mode (Assault Mode) from Star Wars: Battlefront II. General Rahm Kota, a Star Wars: The Force Unleashed character, is also featured, as are other Renegade Squadron characters such as Col. Serra. In addition, the Galactic Conquest mode introduces a new element not seen in prior editions, allowing two players to share a single PSP and compete in a strategy-based game style. Players may also combine characters from the Star Wars narrative and place them in settings and scenarios that never occurred in the canon. The narrative mode has been hailed for being “a huge step up from previous story modes” and for introducing controllers into the quest. Players may obtain custom props as they progress through the tale and achieve missions.
