Tony Hawk’s American Sk8land is the portable version of Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland, the series’ eighth installment. It is the series’ first entry for the Nintendo DS and the sixth for the Game Boy Advance. Vicarious Visions created American Sk8land, the company that created the Tony Hawk games for the Game Boy Advance. The game is based on its console version, American Wasteland, and has the same music, many of the same locales, and many of the same characters. The primary gameplay is displayed on the top screen.
In contrast, the touch screen shows an aerial map of the region the player is skating in and symbols for completing feats quickly. Skateboard art is also created using the touch screen. The option to record your sound clips for use in the game with the DS microphone expands the utilization of the DS’s features. American Sk8land was the first third-party Nintendo DS game to support the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, the Nintendo DS’s online service. Trick Attack, Score Challenge, Combo Mambo, and The Price is Wrong are all available to players. Players may also post and download graffiti, board art, high scores, and replays to one of the servers, and they can download new goals to fulfill regularly. The option to get off the skateboard and stroll around was eliminated in the DS version. However, the ability to stop and swivel the camera partially offsets this. Vicarious Visions also designed the Game Boy Advance version, which shares the same name. The GBA version, on the other hand, has an isometric point of view, polygonal skaters, and pre-rendered levels, generating a 3D impression.
