Burnout is about speeding and crashing. Unlike most games, you drive around cities with real traffic and infrastructure, which focus on moving on courses. The designers built the town and its surroundings, and race courses were installed on its streets. Thus, race courses often overlap with other event routes. Burnout also encourages offensive driving rather than defensive driving. Driving the wrong way, drifting, narrowly missing oncoming traffic, and jumping increase your boost’s “burnout” meter. Use speed boosts and jumps to avoid buses, trucks, and other vehicles. You get a more significant bump when other drivers complain about your annoying and dangerous driving.
