Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (known as Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in the US) is a multi-platform action-adventure video game developed by KnowWonder, Warthog, Griptonite, Argonaut, Eurocom, and Westlake Interactive for Electronic Arts. It’s based on J.K. Rowling’s book and film. Philosopher’s Stone was initially released for PlayStation, Microsoft Windows, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, and Mac OS X. Two years later; it was remade for PlayStation 2, Xbox, and Nintendo GameCube. On November 15, 2001, in North America, November 16, 2001, in Australia and Europe, and December 1, 2001, in Japan, the game’s first version was released. The second version was released in North America, Japan, Australia, and Europe on December 9, 11, and 12, 2003. Harry Potter learns he’s a wizard. He goes to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to meet new friends and learn magic before trying to stop Lord Voldemort from regaining power. The game was polarizing. The game’s simple gameplay and mediocre graphics (2003 versions) were criticized, while others said the license would only draw fans.
