Worms Blast is a 2002 puzzle/action game by Team17 and Ubisoft for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 2, Nintendo GameCube, Game Boy Advance, and Mac OS X. Feral Interactive developed and distributed Mac. Puzzle Bobble/Bust-a-Move-like gameplay. There are some critical differences. The player’s character is in a boat with a hexagonal grid of colored blocks on top. Unlike Puzzle Bobble, it moves sideways. The player has a bazooka but can use other weapons. In Worms, holding the fire button increases the weapon’s launch strength and range. The bazooka, grenade, and dynamite can be fired in an “arch,” allowing players to reach complex areas. Shooting blocks result in either: If the player collides with a partnership the same color as the Bazooka missile or rainbow block, it and any connected blocks will be destroyed. If the only thing holding those blocks together were the recently destroyed colored blocks, they would fall into the water. A partnership or “dead block” that collides with the Bazooka missile will be recolored to match the rocket. (Other blocks affect weapons differently. (See below.)
