The sequel to X-Men Legends, X-Men: Legends II – Rise of Apocalypse, is a role-playing action game. The player controls a party of four characters, albeit only one can be commanded directly at any moment. Aside from switching characters for combat, the player is frequently forced to do so since some of the activities in the game require the extraordinary powers of a specific mutant. For example, Iceman can extinguish a fire; Magneto can create a metal bridge across a distance, and so on. Most of the time is spent in combat, collecting loot and gaining experience points.
In contrast to the original game, foes drop stuff at random. The character will level up, gain strength, and acquire new abilities. The user has the option of manually allocating all experience and skill points. Based on their mutant powers, each character possesses a variety of capabilities. Melee, boost, projectile, traps, and other skills are among them. Each character can also develop tremendous super skills, such as Cyclops’ astonishing beam assault, Wolverine’s spinning strike that inflicts significant damage, Magneto’s metal attack, destroying everything in sight by manipulating metal objects in the environment, and so on.
