Cabela’s African Safari takes you to the wilds of Africa in search of the world’s most valuable trophies. Hunt in five different countries, including South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique, each with its challenges and dangers. You have a variety of firearms, including rifles ranging from.243 (designed primarily for small antelopes) to.600 (for large game such as elephants and rhinos), shotguns for bird hunting, and small caliber handguns prepared to protect you from small predators. Each stage includes five hunts: tracking several small games, one big trophy game, bird hunting, herd hunting (sitting in the back of a jeep and attempting to bring down a trophy animal amid a herd), and finally, the Trophy Hunt (taking down one of Africa’s Big 5). (Rhino, Leopard, Elephant, Cape Buffalo, and the Lion). You also have a tracker that gives hints on where to find your game, a porter who advises you on which firearm to use, and a guide who assists you and sets up the hunts. Each hunt has a time limit, so you won’t have time to enjoy the game’s beautiful surroundings. The landscape is teeming with all kinds of animals, most of which are harmless and will flee if they see you, but keep an eye out for predators, particularly hyenas, wild dogs, and even leopards and cheetahs. If elephants or rhinos are provoked, they will attack. After completing a safari, you can replay it in the main menu’s Open Safari if you want to return to a favorite hunt. After you take down the Trophy Hunt animals, you can go after them again in the main menu’s The Big Five option and even hold tournaments to see who is the better hunter—a sure thing for video game hunters.
