The video game Cars is a racing simulation based on a movie of the same name. The game features an open-world design with a mission-based gameplay format, and it lets players explore the town of Radiator Springs and the locations surrounding it. The plot centered on Lightning McQueen, a rookie race car driver with aspirations of making it big in the racing world and taking part in the Piston Cup, which is the fictional version of NASCAR competitions. You are free to travel the world, interact with other characters, and accept race challenges in order to progress the plot.
In the Story Mode, in addition to the five Piston Cup Races and extra minigames, there are over twenty different Road Races for players to compete in. During the course of playing through the Story Mode, the player will earn bonus points. These points can be redeemed for additional content, such as additional boost abilities, new racers (10 in total), new environments, and minigames. Some examples of these include an obstacle course or a military training event. The game also has a VS. Mode and an Arcade Menu, both of which allow the player to compete head-to-head against one another. The races that are unlocked in Story Mode may be accessed quickly through the Arcade Menu.
