Castlevania: Lament of Innocence is the prologue to all of the other Castlevania games that have been released up until this point. It explains the link between Dracula and the Belmont family as well as their ongoing conflict.

You take on the role of Leon Belmont, who served as a Baron for the King in the past. When Leon’s fiancee, Sara, was abducted and taken to a great castle, he petitioned the Church for permission to send his underlings to attack the castle in an effort to rescue his betrothed. He is unable to have such because to the Crusades that are currently going on in the East. But because of his feelings for Sara, he abdicates his throne and flees, heading to the castle without a weapon or any hints about its whereabouts. Rinaldo, an alchemist who also used to be a vampire hunter, manages to thwart him and put him in his place. He bestows the Whip of Alchemy upon Leon, makes an offer to continue assisting Leon in his quest, and then sends Leon on his way.

The gameplay combines elements of the hack-and-slash genre with an element of strategic thinking. You must first become proficient in your existing talents before moving on to learning any new ones. This also includes relics and orbs, both of which are going to be of tremendous assistance to you on your mission to save Sara. While relics grant you the ability to perform special powers that are required for the solution of certain problems, orbs combine with the power-ups that you pick up to produce tremendous amounts of offensive or defensive power. When a player defeats one of the game’s five hidden bosses, they are rewarded with various items (such as whip power-ups, orbs, relics, and so on). The game has many other hidden secrets as well.
