Dark Angel: Vampire Apocalypse is one of the longest PlayStation 2 adventures, with over 100 hours of gameplay. Players take on the role of Anna, the Dark Angel of Retribution, in 1640. Despite being defeated a century ago, the monsters and demons loyal to the Shadow Lord have begun to prepare for his resurrection. Anna has exactly one year to prepare for the battle with this demonic entity, during which she must explore three villages and six battlegrounds, slaying all creatures she encounters. Dark Angel: Vampire Apocalypse is an action RPG that borrows elements from games like Diablo. Players can collect various equipment and weapons, projectile-based and melee-oriented. Weapons are bound to the four face buttons on the controller, allowing players to combine items as desired. The required meters will enable you to keep track of your health, spirit, and experience levels, as well as your current gold stash. The hordes of monsters, which span three distinct races, are defeated by the various weapons at your disposal. Broadswords, for example, are very effective against the Undead. The storyline is purposefully absent, with no cut-scenes and little character interaction to reveal more of the plot. Players are free to do as they please, with few specific objectives to complete. You must strengthen Anna’s abilities over a year to ensure she is ready to face the Shadow Lord when the time comes.
