Defender

Defender is a modernized remake of the classic arcade game of the same name. The Manti bugs have infiltrated Earth, and the last human survivors live in colonies across the solar system. As more Manti swarms arrive, even the settlements are in danger of extinction. You’ve been assigned to aid in rescuing the remaining colonists and annihilating the Manti bugs! There are six ships to fly, each with its own flight characteristics and special weapons. Power-ups for weapons and shields can also be found throughout the missions. As in the original Defender, the Manti will try to capture any humans they can find to turn them into mutants and thus increase their attack force. To increase your chances of success, you must rescue captured humans before this occurs and transport them to a safe landing zone. Saving colonists will also earn you credits, which can be used to upgrade your ship’s weapons or shields. Several video extras detail the historical context and production of Defender.
