For the new season, ESPN NFL 2K5 has many new features. To begin, the ESPN presentation has been significantly expanded. Chris Berman, who did the half-time show voiceover in 2K4, returns for this season. Instead of just voice, there is a virtual assistant. Chris Berman introduces each game, provides a half-time report, and hosts the post-game show. He uses replays from each match to demonstrate specific points. One new feature is the V.I.P. system, which keeps track of how you play the game. Your V.I.P. profile will reflect this if you pass 80% of the time and run 20% of the time. You can play against your V.I.P. later, and the A.I. will act as if it were you. This year marks ESPN’s 25th anniversary, so a unique 25th Anniversary Mode has been added. This mode allows you to replay classic football game moments such as The Heidi Bowl and The Immaculate Reception. This year, the Crib is getting a makeover. Instead of receiving specific items for completing tasks, you receive points that you can use to purchase items of your choice. A dart board and a phone, which you will use to answer celebrity calls, have been added to the Crib. Steve-O, Carmen Electra, Jamie Kennedy, David Arquette, or Funkmaster Flex may call and challenge you to a game. The franchise mode has also been updated. The ability to schedule weekly team preparations was new in 2005. You can have your players work out, play practice games, and watch tapes to prepare your team for the next round.
