A distress call is received by Sergeant Dennis Riley, a member of the special United States Marine Team Red Light, on December 24, 2005. The call originates from Fort Stewart, a top-secret research station located in Antarctica. The signal asks for an immediate air attack to be launched against the base. However, the team’s plane ended up crashing in the tundra when it was on its way to investigate the situation. When Dennis gets to the facility, he learns that something terrible has happened there, and he is forced to battle for his life as he comes into contact with mutated creatures and is in risk of becoming infected himself. Dennis’s survival is in the balance.
Survival horror is the genre that Extermination falls within.
