The Fatal Frame series has resumed publication. Yuu Asou, who was engaged to Rei Kurosawa, was killed in a horrific vehicle accident that occurred while she was behind the wheel. As part of a reporting assignment, she investigates a haunted mansion and writes about her experiences there. In this scene, she is terrorized by visions of her deceased fiance. The camera mode from the previous games, which was used to capture ghosts, has been incorporated into this game. You use the camera obscura not only as a weapon to capture ghosts but also as a guide by taking pictures of the ghosts and eerie objects in the house in order to solve the mystery and get rid of the curse. This allows you to utilize the camera obscura in a way that does not include capturing ghosts. You use a strobe light and search the area for answers to the mystery as you move about.
During the course of the game, you will have the opportunity to assume the roles of three different ladies and toggle between a dream world and the actual world. Overall, it continues with the same Japanese horror motif as the first two installments in the series.
