The player can imitate performing rock music using a guitar-shaped controller resembling a miniature Gibson SG. This controller allows the player to play the game. The gameplay is comparable to that of Guitar Freaks in that the player must press buttons on a guitar controller in rhythm with musical notes that scroll over the game’s screen. In addition to the game’s additional tracks, it includes cover versions of thirty of today’s most famous rock songs spanning the rock genre’s entire history, from the 1960s to 2005. Throughout the first decade of the 21st century, Guitar Hero was widely regarded as one of the video games with the most significant impact on the industry. The game received widespread praise from gaming critics and numerous accolades and awards from leading industry journals.
