Heavenly Guardian

Heavenly Guardian was originally a PS2 sequel to Taito’s Kiki KaiKai series, simply titled Kiki KaiKai 2, and was released outside of Japan under Pocky & Rocky. Kiki KaiKai is a series of fighting games developed by Taito. The game was scrapped after Starfish could not retain its license to publish Kiki KaiKai products. However, Kiki Kai World would later be released for the Wii. The main character’s miko outfit was blue in Kiki Kai World rather than red, as it was in the PS2 game that was ultimately scrapped due to financial difficulties. It was not a direct sequel to the first game; instead, it was more of a “spiritual successor,” This was done to avoid any potential legal issues with Taito and Square-Enix, the parent company of Taito.
