The evil Professor Elvin Atombender’s nuclear missiles will launch and destroy strategic locations on Earth in six hours. Only one agent can infiltrate his secret base and complete this impossible Mission. Impossible Mission aims to collect nine passwords and deliver them to Atombender’s Control Room in time to shut down the rockets. Unfortunately, these passcodes (contained on punch cards) have been broken into four pieces, each hidden throughout the base in computers, furniture, and waste bins. In addition, Atombender has an army of robots patrolling the floor. If a robot touches or shocks the agent, the clock is reset for ten minutes, and the room is reset. The agent can jump over robots, but the only way to stop them is to use a specific item on a computer terminal in a room, and even then, it only disables them for a few seconds. The game’s 2007 release has a few improvements over the original version, primarily to improve the graphics and make the game easier to play. The player can choose one of three agents, all of whom have the same abilities. Robots are color-coded based on what they can do (yellow-only patrol, red patrol, shock, blue can follow and surprise). However, some aspects of each robot’s personality can still be determined by watching or approaching them. Finally, an accessible mode has been added, which adds two hours to the clock and marks rooms that have been cleared of items. The original mode with the original graphics is also available, as is a “mixed” mode that uses the old avatar graphics and changes the color of all robots but retains any other graphical upgrades.
