Start your engines, racers! LEGO Racers 2 picks up where the first game left off, with a defeated Rocket Racer fleeing to planet Xalax to hone his racing skills. There, he meets the Ramas, car-crazy creatures who race all over the earth and even have their massive racing arena called the Dome. Rocket Racer, refusing to accept defeat, issues a new race challenge and invites the greatest racers of all time to the Ramas’ Dome for the Galactic Racing Championship! To qualify for the ultimate race on planet Xalax, you must demonstrate your driving abilities in four different worlds. As you race your way to the championship, try out new features. Like the original LEGO Racers, you must first construct your racer and Minifigure driver. When you get behind the wheel, you’ll notice an increase in destructibility as cars and scenery break into individual LEGO bricks on impact. You can reclaim your bricks during a pit stop, but don’t lose all of them, or you’ll have to walk back to the pit. The game allows you to explore the LEGO worlds Life on Mars, Adventurers: Dino Island, Arctic, and City Center. Each world has a “boss” racer who drives a vehicle unique to that world, and you must defeat the boss before progressing. The addition of realistic weather conditions heightens the excitement. Twenty-four new tracks connect to form a road network, some with movable barriers that create different courses. An improved power-up system aids racers and an all-new Golden Brick system rewards winners. You can also collect Golden Bricks along the way; collect enough and you’ll advance to the next world, where new bonus levels will be available.
