Metal Saga, the sequel to the Metal Max games, is set in the same post-apocalyptic world as its predecessors, populated by bounty hunters, rangers, bandits, and mutant monsters. You play a bounty hunter who must travel the world looking for “wanted” people. The hero, accompanied by a soldier, a mechanic, and a cyborg dog, must survive a journey west that will eventually take him to remote locations and lead to battles against evil. Metal Saga has a less linear storyline than one might expect from a Japanese RPG – a storyline that develops based on the missions you choose, leading to new events and, eventually, different endings. The combat system includes traditional party management, turn-based battles, and Metal Max’s signature tank combat. Tanks can be used in an action if you obtain them for your characters. Tanks are damaged and broken, but you can customize them by collecting parts scattered around the world and assembling them to create new models. Depending on its model, many different types of weapons, cannons, and accessories can be equipped for the tank, giving it hundreds of options. Custom paint jobs for tanks can even be saved to the memory card.
