Following a delay of more than nine years, Micro Machines V4 is the first genuinely new game in the Micro Machines series. It is also the direct sequel to Micro Machines V3, released in 2002. The gameplay is quite similar to that of Crazy Tracks, in which the player navigates small toy vehicles through fifty different miniature versions of real-world environments, such as driving over a pool table or through the eaves gutters of a home. You can find power-ups and weaponry on the racetrack, such as a rocket launcher, a monster hammer, or a flamethrower. These items can assist you in winning the race. Once you win a race, you’ll receive money, which you’ll need to spend on additional cars and tracks if you want to unlock them. In the multiplayer mode, up to four players can compete against one another locally on a single PC or remotely over the internet. The PS2 and PSP versions support multiplayer through multitap, although the PSP game can be played either locally (with two players) or remotely over WiFi (four players). The races take on a whole new dimension when you play the game online. You can bet on your car, but your rival will take possession of it if you lose. You can also engage in car trades with other people using your collection. The package comes with an editor that you may use to create your tracks using. Users can access more channels when the PSP is linked to the PS2.
