Cave was responsible for developing the manic shooter Mushihimesama ( Mushihimesama?, lit. “Bug Princess”), which Taito published in 2004. In 2005, it was converted to PlayStation 2, and in 2011, it was ported over to iOS. In May of 2012, a port for the Xbox 360 was made available (with ver1.5 as first print DLC). 2011 saw the introduction of a drastically revamped “version 1.5,” made public in arcades. All of the foes in the game are designed to look like different kinds of insects, such as beetles and butterflies, giving the game an overall insect-based aesthetic. The action takes place in several different forest settings. It was followed up in 2006 by a game called Mushihimesama Futari, and in 2012, an iOS game called Mushihimesama Bug Panic was released as a spin-off.
