The main feature of NBA Ballers: Phenom is the story mode. The player creates a unique character and can customize it regarding height, age, body type, position, and other factors. The plot revolves around the Phenom, a created player, and his rivalry with former friend Philip “Hot Sauce” Champion. After Hot Sauce persuades the scouts that he and you are, in fact, a one-person show, Hot Sauce not only steals your glory, but he also steals your girlfriend. It’s NBA Finals week, and you’re out to prove how good you are. With a million dollars, the number one draft pick in the NBA, or a lucrative entrepreneur empire on the line, you must do whatever it takes to become the best. The main games are played in a tournament format, similar to NBA Ballers. Tournaments can be played in four different locations. When you are not competing in an event, you can return to your hotel and save the game, exit the game, continue the game, modify your baller, and design your mansion. Two of the locations are explorable (Beverly Hills and Venice Beach). You can walk around town doing various tasks such as collecting hidden diamonds, playing Peja’s Hot Hoops, talking to specific people, and doing chores for them, which results in a generous reward. There is a ticket stand where you can buy tickets to participate in events, such as the Freestyle Rap Battle with Jin. GAMEPLAY The previous game’s normal 1-on-1 half court gameplay was retained. However, Phenom includes a 2-on-2 mode similar to NBA Jam in that games are played on a full court with two ballers on both teams.
