The gameplay consists of a combination of platform/puzzle solving and battles. Outside of fighting, the player typically controls Orphen. However, certain game sections require you to play as a different party member and explore each area one at a time, solving puzzles and jumping across platforms. Treasure chests are scattered throughout areas, containing items that can be used outside of battle or equipment used during the war. Although enemies can be found in various areas, many scripted battle sequences occur throughout the game. During battles, the player controls one character (usually Orphen, though certain sections of the game require you to play as a different character) and has access to three pieces of equipment. Equipment types include melee weapons, spells, and elemental shields. The player can also use their shield by pressing the square. During the battle, the characters remain stationary, only moving toward enemies to use melee weapons. Though actions are set up in the same way as turn-based battles, they take place in real-time, which means that the player, allies, and enemies can all attack at any time. The game ends if the controlled character dies in battle and the player is taken back to the title screen. The player can, however, pause the battle and change equipment at any time, restarting the battle. Because checkpoints can only be saved at specific points in the game, this strategy can be used to avoid reloading your file and returning to the battle if your character dies. ~Wikipedia
