The racing video game OutRun 2 SP was introduced by Sega in 2004 for the arcade. OutRun 2 SP is an updated version of the game initially released in 2003; the “SP” refers to “Special Tours.” The gameplay is much the same, but there is an entirely new track with fifteen stages and two new cars. In 2007, OutRun 2 SP was moved to the PlayStation 2 platform. The Japanese PlayStation 2 version of the game is an improved adaptation of OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast; nonetheless, it has kept its original arcade title, OutRun 2 SP. In the home versions of Coast to Coast, the animations at the end of the courses (such as a volcano exploding and a space shuttle taking off) were not there. However, these animations are present in the 2SP version of the game. It also features a few additional unlockable music tracks that are not available in the other game versions. One of these music tracks is the SP Remix of “Rush a Difficulty.” Moreover, Clarissa’s clothing in this iteration is far more revealing than it was in the game’s arcade version.
