One day, the fearless commander of the Pirates of Skull Cove, Mara Rousseau, made the decision to settle down and start a family. She tied the knot with Marcus de Leon, the governor of the Pirate Isles, and the couple went on to have a child who they named Katarina. Especially when her mother vanished without a trace, the governor had a strong desire to shield her from the perils of life as a pirate from the beginning of their relationship. But when the brutal Captain Hawke and his gang, the Crimson Guard, begin to harass the islands, Katarina understands that she must find a way to stop him no matter what the cost may be.
The primary gameplay components of the action game Pirates: The Legend of Black Kat are the sailing and land exploration game types. During the course of their voyage, Katarina’s ship comes across opposing vessels and may become involved in naval engagements. The player needs to traverse the islands on foot in order to look for unique artifacts that will unlock additional places on the map. Katarina moves forward in a pretty straight line over each island, but there are adversaries that keep regenerating to slow her down. In addition, the player has the ability to find keys that will allow him to open treasure chests and hunt for various goods for the purpose of collecting them.
