Miku Hinasaki is a young girl with a peculiar sixth sense. Mafuyu, her brother, and Junsei Takamine, her tutor, proceeded to examine a mansion that had been inhabited in the past by a powerful landowner who had ultimate control over the area. Regrettably, they were never seen again after leaving on their investigation. Miku goes into the mansion in search of her brother with nothing more than an old camera that her late mother had given to her before she passed away.
When Miku is in the mansion, she will run into various ghosts and other apparitions of the spirit world. She needs to utilize the enchanted camera to take pictures of the ghosts, which will lock them away for good and allow her to triumph over the spirits that are threatening her life. Ghosts can take many forms, from intangible pieces of the past that are buried in the environment to fleeting recollections of the past that surface for a little period of time before fading away to full-body apparitions that will seek to assault and kill Miku.
In order to use the Camera Obscura to defeat a hostile ghost, the shot must first be “charged” by maintaining the ghost’s position near the center of the screen while it is visible. If Miku fires a shot at the ghost while it is attacking or while it is defenseless, she will extract an even greater quantity of energy from it, which will result in an increase in the total number of spirit points won. After that, points can be spent to increase the attributes of her camera or to give it unique abilities, such as slowing down a ghost or pushing it away. Miku will need to make use of the Camera Obscura’s ability to expose hints and debunk illusions in order to solve the riddles that are hidden throughout the estate.
