A platform action game, Ratchet & Clank is analogous to the 3D versions of titles like Rayman, Sonic, Mario, and other games of its ilk. It follows the adventures of two main characters, Ratchet, a furry alien monster, and Clank, a nerdy tiny robot, as they embark on a journey in search of Captain Qwark and ultimately to assist in the saving of the galaxy.
The video game Ratchet & Clank is comparable to other games of its kind, but it stands out in a number of important respects thanks to its unique take on familiar elements. The game’s levels are fairly large, and they are packed with intricately detailed architecture that is always on display (i.e. there is no distance fog). The game also includes a number of highly featured minigames, such as a space fight sequence and a series of turret shoot-outs that are similar to Missile Command in the first person. Both of these minigames may be played in the first-person perspective.
The game features around twenty different levels, or planets, and has just as many cutscenes, which are sequences of the plot told via in-game images. The fact that the tale is told in a non-linear fashion is another important aspect to take into consideration. In order to accomplish certain goals, the player will need to revisit earlier levels and will be given several options on how to proceed. In addition, as you go through the game, you will find and be able to purchase a fair assortment of weapons, gadgets, and accessories. These can be acquired in-game or found across the world.
