RTL Biathlon 2009

RTL Biathlon 2009 is a biathlon simulation game. It is divided into two sections, similar to the actual sport, skiing and shooting. During the skiing sections, the player directs his athlete and monitors his stamina. The power bar in the middle of the screen is filled by holding the assigned button – if the bar is too low, the athlete becomes slow, and if it is too high, he becomes tired. This means constant button pressing to keep it as high as possible. The player shoots at targets while the cursor wobbles during the shooting sequences. He can also hold his breath briefly to keep his aim steady. In the career mode, the player assigns points to four categories, speed and stamina, which influence the athlete’s abilities. He can improve these stats even more after winning championships. This installment introduces superpowers that can be selected at some point. When activated, these provide a significant boost to a stat for a short period; for example, “mountain skiing” increases power when skiing uphill. These can only be obtained once per race. 15 courses are partially licensed in total.
