A simulation of rugby league, Rugby League 2: World Cup Edition is an enhanced version of the original rugby league game, Rugby League 2. (rugby league is a sport similar to rugby union but features set tackles rather than rucks and mauls – once a player is successfully tackled he plays the ball back to a team-mate behind him, with the team losing possession if attacked 6 times.). The primary focus of this game is on introducing updated content, which includes new team squad lists and strips, as well as new stadiums. Moreover, Samoa and the Gold Coast Titans have been added as new teams to the competition. In addition, a new mode called the World Cup is a simulation of the actual competition. The game is still licensed by the official Super League and the NRL, the world’s two most significant rugby league club leagues. Because of this, it can use official names, players, and likenesses. The franchise mode from the last title has also been brought over, allowing the player to manage a team for several seasons.
