As its name would imply, Puyo Puyo Tsuu Perfect Set is an improved version of the game Puyo Puyo Tsuu, which was first made available on the arcade hardware known as the Sega System C-2. Even though Puyo Puyo was not technically a Sega game when it was first released, by this point in time, Sonic Team had purchased the Puyo Puyo series from Compile, making it a Sega property.
Perfect Set is very similar to the original game, but it has a higher resolution graphics, the ability to choose between enhanced sound and System C2 sound, all of the features of later versions of the original game (such as the 36-opponent “Super Quest” mode from the Sega Saturn port), and a variety of additional modes such as a “Nazo Puyo” mode. Perfect Set was released in Japan on December 15, 2004. In addition to that, it includes an Omake mode that contains trailers for all of the Sega Ages 2500 titles that had been released up to that moment.
