Capcom’s hack-and-slash video game Sengoku Basara was initially released for the Sony PlayStation 2 on July 21, 2005. Capcom was the game’s publisher. Sengoku Basara is a hack-and-slash video game that follows the same formula as Dynasty Warriors but centers on Japanese warlords and generals during the Sengoku period. It should not be confused with the locally developed monstrosity known as Devil Kings. The story’s basic premise is that each of the generals and warlords wants to conquer Japan for their own side or for themselves. The characters themselves are heightened interpretations of their historical counterparts who served as models for them. (Take Nobunaga as an example; he was the embodiment of evil and possessed demonic powers.)

In contrast to the localization, the game features sixteen playable characters, each with its own unique set of powers and fighting style. Even if you don’t fully understand what’s happening, Sengoku Basara provides a more enjoyable gaming experience. If you enjoy games similar to Dynasty Warrior, then you’ll enjoy this. If you’re desperate to play this in English, you can play the Mentioned Devil Kings. Overall, Sengoku Basara provides a more enjoyable gaming experience.
