Shadow Hearts: From the New World

Fans of the Shadow Hearts series shift their focus from saving a kidnapped exorcist in China to fighting occult forces in France during World War I to a blossoming romance and a mysterious mystery in “the New World.” This third game in the series is designed in the same style as earlier Shadow Hearts adventures, with a turn-based “Judgment Ring” battle system and a cast of well-developed characters, both ally, and adversary alike. Shadow Hearts III: Judgment Ring is currently available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Yet, both newcomers to the Shadow Hearts series and seasoned players should find plenty to like in the game’s updated heroes, location, and plot. The player takes on the character of Johnny Garland in this game, set in the 1930s in the United States of America during the Great Depression. Johnny is a young man from a troubled family who dreams of becoming a detective. Johnny was chasing after an escaped criminal when he saw the man being engulfed in a mysterious green light and disappear forever. Johnny continued his pursuit of the offender. Soon after, he finds out that this absence is not unique, and he ultimately meets Shania, a Native American bounty hunter who is also looking into the anomalies. Together, they investigate the phenomenon. The two individuals go across the country together, hoping to find answers.
