The gameplay of Shaun Palmer’s Pro Snowboarder is similar to that of Tony Hawk’s Snowboarding. Players can choose from ten different professional snowboarders, including the game’s namesake, Shaun Palmer, as well as Shaun White, Tara Dakides, Ross Powers, Tommy Czeschin, Leslee Olson, Jimmy Halopoff, Ingemar Backman, Drew Neilson, Markus Hurme, eight real-life locations, such as Aspen or Mt. There is a mode called Freeride, as well as a mode called Career, in which the player completes complicated tricks to rack up points. Still, they must also meet specific tasks for each stage to progress to higher levels. These tasks may include completing typical schemes, jumping off clear ramps, or picking up various items scattered throughout the set. Multiple options allow for multiplayer competition, in which players compete against one another to see who can get to the end of the stage first or who can outperform the other. Moreover, it includes tracks by the band Papa Roach, Static-X, and Alien Ant Farm.
