SS2 is a sci-fi-themed shooter with a vertically scrolling format and is the sequel to the game Shikigami no Shiro.
The gameplay is very similar to that of other games in the same genre in that it puts you in control of a little fighter as you attempt to go through multiple stages that are loaded with hostile ships that charge you and attack you in a variety of different patterns.
The game includes seven unique characters, each of whom possesses psychic powers that manifest themselves in-game as bomb-type attacks and other special moves. Additionally, the game includes a story mode for each character, in which they each have unique dialogues and plot sequences for each boss fight.
A weapon system that is quite similar to the one used by Psyvariar is also present. With this system, you can increase your rate of fire and power by scraping incoming bullets.
