Heather is a normal adolescent girl, and the player takes control of her in Silent Hill 3. One beautiful day, she decides to go shopping, but before she knows it, she’s been abducted and taken to a bizarre and terrible location: the creepy village of Silent Hill. She is forced to defend herself after hearing footsteps, which are ultimately the sound of revolting and scary monsters advancing on her. Heather must find a way to leave the terrifying town of Silent Hill before she can continue her investigation of both Silent Hill and her own past.
Visually and mechanically, the third entry in the Silent Hill series is very comparable to the gameplay of the previous iteration. It is a survival horror game, much like the entries that came before it, and it combines action-based (mostly close-ranged) fighting with the solution of puzzles. This chapter in the series focuses on battles a little bit more than the ones that came before it. Heather has the ability to side-step and parry certain attacks, although she, like the other heroes of the series, is generally not very skilled in combat.
