A prequel to the Silent Hill series, Silent Hill: Origins is a game that takes place in the 1970s. When you play the game, you take on the role of Travis Grady, a truck driver who, late one night, is attempting to make up time by taking a shortcut through Silent Hill.

You will be required to crawl through mirrors in order to transition between the dream and actual versions of the town, just like you did in the previous Silent Hill games. It is necessary for him to collect the objects needed to complete the riddles and gain access to new places. Monsters of varying varieties present challenges and, consistent with the established canon of the series, are almost always hideously warped interpretations of humans.

Travis is able to fight using only his bare fists or with close combat weaponry. In contrast to earlier entries in the series, melee weapons will eventually become unusable. In addition, there are various guns and things with a single use that can be hurled. Lock-on is the method by which combat is conducted. Although there is no HUD, the bottom left corner of the screen will become red whenever Travis is in danger of passing out.
