Players of SingStar games must match their vocals to the beat of the music to accumulate points. SingStar microphones are used as the means through which players interact with their respective consoles while a music video plays in the background. The pitch that players are expected to sing is shown on the screen by horizontal grey bars that are analogous to a musical stave. The lyrics that correlate to the pitch are shown at the bottom of the screen. The game evaluates each participant’s singing by comparing pitch and timing to the original recording. Players earn points based on how closely their song rendition matches the original. This fundamental pattern could look slightly different depending on the mode you play SingStar, but the game’s core concept is always the same.
