Fighting in a one-on-one match in the style of Mortal Kombat is one thing, but fighting with weapons is something quite different. Soul Calibur II carries on the legacy established by Soul Blade and the Soul Calibur game for the Dreamcast by providing frantic action and an abundance of weapons with which to deliver devastating hits.
The majority of the action takes place in the Weapon Master mode, in which you select a character, travel across a predetermined area, and engage in combat against a variety of other warriors while traversing a variety of diverse landscapes and overcoming a variety of unique obstacles. You’ll be fighting in quicksand one minute, and then you’ll have to throw yourself at an opponent to win the fight the next.
Other game modes include the standard arcade, survival, and practice modes, as well as multiplayer options that allow two players to compete against one another.
Additionally, a one-of-a-kind character designed just for the platform is included in each and every edition of Soul Calibur II. Heihachi, a character from Tekken, makes his debut on the PlayStation 2, while Spawn makes his debut on the Xbox. Link, a character from the Legend of Zelda series, is also available on GameCube.
