Twenty-five years after the original Space Invaders was released, Taito has decided to release a special anniversary edition that includes all of the arcade versions of Space Invaders and two new game modes. Space Invaders – monochrome version: The original, first released in 1978. Move your ship to the left or right, shooting at approaching invaders while avoiding theirs. For extra points, shoot the flying saucer that moves across the screen. Four barriers shield you from enemy fire but will be destroyed after a few hits. After shooting every invader on screen, you must repeat the process. When all of your lives are gone, the game is over. Color version of Space Invaders: Same as above, but in color. Cellophane version of Space Invaders: Five strips of cellophane (cyan, green, yellow, blue, red) are placed across the game screen to obscure the two black areas. Space Invaders – upright version: Space Invaders in color, but with a background that includes a planet and some stars. Space Invaders doubles: Two players can play simultaneously. Because lives are separate, the other continues to play the other continues to play if one player loses their life. Space Invaders Part II: This game is known as Space Invaders Deluxe in the United States.

The difference between the original and this game is that there are two flying saucers: one that stays visible constantly and another that blinks. Each one killed earns a different number of points. Invaders can also be split into two when shot from wave two onwards, and flying saucers drop alien reinforcements. A cocktail cabinet is also available—a two-player game of Space Invaders VS. The screen is divided into two halves, with one side reserved for each player. Invaders occupy both sides. The game’s goal is to kill these invaders so that you can destroy your opponent’s ship at the top of the screen.

Matches are decided before the start of the game. You can play against a computer opponent.

Space Invaders 3D: Everything on the screen appears in three dimensions. Invaders not only shoot arrows at you, but they can also launch fireballs at you. When you come into contact with these, you lose a life. Flying saucers fly across the screen as usual but then directly toward you. When you hit one of these saucers, you will automatically receive a power-up that will assist you in killing the invaders. You can change the view you can play before starting each game. One picture shows the cabinet as if you were standing before it, while another allows you to play the game in full-screen mode. The background music is from Space Invaders, but it can be changed to music from other Taito games such as Bubble Bobble, Elevator Action, The Fairyland Story, and Darius. Further options allow you to customize the number of lives you start with and the number of points required to gain extra lives. In addition to the games, you can view promotional material and any development sheets for the original game.
