Superman Returns

The film Superman Returns is based on the same name. You pilot the man as he flies around Metropolis, saving citizens and fighting natural disasters, fires, and supervillains. You have constant access to Superman’s abilities, such as heat vision, freeze breath, invulnerability, and supersonic flight, though the latter is limited by a stamina bar. Superman does not take any damage, which is unusual for this genre, and all of the challenges revolve around saving others from harm. Combat is done through melee (you learn new combos as you progress through the game) and direct application of Superman’s heat vision and freeze breath. You can also pick up objects to throw at villains, such as the Daily Planet globe and tanker trucks. You can also use a lamppost as a club by tearing it down. Metropolis is portrayed as a vast open world in which you can fly anywhere and complete any side mission anytime. Aside from the main story missions, there are 200 kittens to save and numerous fires to extinguish. The basic game is broken up a little with two distinct sequences. A race around the city against Myxyzptlk is available, as is a Bizarro mode in which you must destroy the city.
