In No One Lives Forever, you play the part of Cate Archer, a stunning but lethal operative who works for UNITY, a top-secret organization that is engaged in a battle to free the world from the control of H.A.R.M. The game offers spy action that is influenced by the 1960s with killer weaponry, such as a rocket-launching suitcase, a robotic poodle, and exploding lipstick, from suspenseful deception to in-your-face battle. The game also features spy action that is inspired by the Cold War. You will have to take on dangerous archvillains over the course of sixty levels set in a variety of exotic locations. You will also have to defend yourself from attacking sharks, jump out of a falling airplane, and travel through twisting jungles.
The Operative: No One Lives Forever for PlayStation 2 includes all of the content that was included in the Windows version (with the exception of the mission that was exclusive to the GotY Edition), in addition to a special episode called “Nine Years Ago…” that follows Cate Archer in her earlier years as a cat burglar, just before she was discovered by UNITY. Scenes from the mission are not played one after another, but rather are interspersed with scenes from other missions. In addition to that, they come with two unique devices.
The music score that was composed by Guy Whitmore for the first release of the game has been replaced in the PlayStation 2 version by a soundtrack that was written by Rebecca Kneubuhl and mixed by Gabriel Mann. This version of the game does not include a mode for playing with other people.
