The Simpsons: Hit & Run is most accurately described as Grand Theft Auto set in the Springfield neighborhood of Springfield.
The player assumes the character of Homer, Marge, Bart, or Lisa, and attempts to solve a mystery that involves mysterious vans, robot bees that are taking over Springfield, and cola that has the ability to control the minds of those who drink it.
A linear-based path is followed throughout the game’s fifty plus missions, much like Grand Theft Auto. The player will have to pursue cars and figure out where they are going, recover all of the spilled cola cans before anyone can drink them, and pursue the bad guys before they can escape.
In the course of playing the game, the player will have numerous opportunities to earn rewards by achieving certain goals within a specified length of time or by carrying off impressive feats.
The show’s actors, such as Dan Castellaneta (Homer), Julie Kavner (Marge), and Yeardley Smith, are also responsible for providing all of the show’s voiceovers (Lisa).
The game allows for cooperative play between a maximum of four players at once.
