The plot of this story, which is a sequel to the film of the same name directed by John Carpenter in 1982, centers on Captain Blake, a member of a United States Special Forces team that is dispatched to the Antarctic outpost that was depicted in the original film in order to discover what happened to the research team.
The events in the movie take place a short time before the start of the game, which takes place at U.S. Outpost 31 in Antarctica. The U.S. camp and the Norwegian camp that is close have both been searched by two teams of Special Operations Forces from the United States. Bravo Team is in charge of looking into the American camp, and Captain J.F. Blake, whose voice is provided by Per Solli, is the leader of that team. Meanwhile, Alpha Team is in charge of looking into the Norwegian camp, and Captain Pierce is in command. Colonel Whitley (William B. Davis), who is in constant connection through radio, is in ultimate command of both teams and oversees the operation as a whole. During their investigation of Outpost 31, Bravo Team quickly comes upon a miniature spaceship that was created by the Blair-Thing as well as a tape recorder containing a message from R.J. MacReady in which he discusses how nobody can trust anyone else any longer. They then discover information that details how an extraterrestrial lifeform capable of mimicking the physical appearance and characteristics of any living organism it assimilates has infiltrated the base. The lifeform in question is able to imitate the characteristics of any living organism it has assimilated. They also find the body of Childs, who was one of the two people who survived the ordeal at the conclusion of the movie but ultimately succumbed to hypothermia and died. MacReady, the second character to survive the events of the movie, is nowhere to be found. Bravo Team carried out Whitley’s orders and dismantled the outpost by planting C-4 explosives all over the facility, which were then detonated using a remote control device.
